THE FIRST PART OF BISAB PLANT BREEDING COURSE COMPLETED IN ANTALYA

The theoretical part of the Plant Breeding Course held for the fourth time in 2014 was completed in Antalya. The course was designed for a total 90 days including theoretical and applied training. 20 Agricultural Engineers working in private sector seed production facilities from various parts of our country attended the theoretical part of the course held on 02-15 February 2013.

After a short speech he rendered at the beginning of the course, BISAB Chairman of the Board S. Ahmet Bağcı later informed the participants on the courses and other activities organized by our Sub-Union. In summary, Chairman Bağcı said that there was a serious lack of plant breeders in the seed production sector, that this course would meet this need of the sector even a little bit, and the course would provide theoretical and applied information regarding basic plant breeding, and that he believed the course participants would compensate their other deficiencies with future studies they would perform, and they would help the participants to obtain the necessary information that they could possibly need in their studies after the course.

Course participants took the general courses regarding plant breeding in the first week. In the second week, they attended special courses in two groups, namely crop plants and vegetative production. Course participants who proved to be successful at the test to be held at the end of this training will continue to take applied crop, greenhouse and laboratory plant breeding courses in various research centers in a period of nearly 11 weeks remaining.
